Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development recently announced that it has resumed the official recruitment of domestic workers from Ethiopia after a hiatus of more than three years.
A new agreement between Saudi and Ethiopia has set domestic worker salaries at SAR 1,000 (USD 266.66). 20,000 domestic workers are expected to arrive in the Kingdom by March.
Ethiopia and the UAE have agreed to expedite a labour exchange agreement, under discussion between the two countries for the last several years.
