A Step Forward

Pamphlets

Although a bit late considering the injustice foreign laborers face here in the Kingdom, one can only nod in acceptance of what is considered to be a step forward toward securing migrant rights. The government-funded Human Rights Commission (HRC) in Saudi Arabia has just announced that it's working with the Ministry of Labor to publish pamphlets aimed at informing laborers of their rights in the country. I believe these pamphlets will be published in the various languages and dialects spoken by the migrant workers and will address the many concerns they are unaware of regarding the legal mechanisms and rights they have. It is also noted that the pamphlets will serve to spread awareness among employers, informing them of the consequences should they choose to violate workers' rights. One can only hope that those implementing this scheme can not only talk the talk, but walk the walk when action is needed.Source - Opens in new tab
